Creating our whisky is a constant dance between creation and conservation; knowing then to intervene and when to let things be. For our first commission, we sought an artist to wrestle with these same themes and produce a work that would resonate well beyond the bounds of whisky.
As an artist, Miya Kosowick delves into the intersection of the controlled and natural worlds, drawing on the Japanese philosophy of uchi-soto ( 内外). Her practice echoes our philosophy of transforming the elemental through innovation whilst balancing the tension between creation and conservation, making her the perfect choice for our first commission.
